After a long and courageous battle, Steve E. Basta, Jr. went home to the Lord, April 21, 1998.
Steve was born Nov. 1, 1929 in Terrero, NM to Steve E. And Mollie A. Delost Basta. Married Mary Alice Walker, November 12, 1952. Served in the U.S. Army. Retired supervisor from Kennecott Copper Corporation.Steve was an avid fisherman and family man. His special talents as a carpenter, rock mason, leather worker and many other creative hobbies will forever be cherished. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know this genuine, caring, and hardworking man will strive to carry on his legacy and traditions. You continue to inspire us, you will be greatly and deeply missed.
Survived by long time love, his wife, Alice; children, Phillip Smith, Robyn (Richard) Defa, Jane Basta, Julie (Don) Roane, Tony Basta; brothers, Bob (Betty) Basta, Don Basta; and sister Donna; grandchildren, Michelle, Jody, Leesa, Victor and Mike Smith, Steven, Stacy, Ryan and Tiffany Defa, Anthony, Matthew and Hankie Basta; great-grandchildren, Chelsea (His little troublemaker), Ashley, Jeanice, Trevor, Nicholas, Tyler, Cade, Rylee, Vivian, McClay; many extended family members and many friends. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Luke; and one grandchild; and special little Teeny Tiny.
Our special thanks to the nurses and aides at Health South, North Unit. Your care in keeping him comfortable is commendable. Our many thanks to all of his friends and neighbors for their concern and kindness.
Extra special hugs and thanks to our Pastor Willard and Sheila Richard. Whose love, prayers and spiritual support sustained us all.
