International investment in Utah is fueling new jobs almost three times faster than other business ventures.
That's according to a study released Wednesday by the Washington-based Organization for International Investment.It said that 27,800 Utah workers are now employed by subsidiaries of foreign-based companies. That is a 193 percent increase since 1980. It said that rate is almost three times faster than the 70 percent growth during the same time period for all companies in Utah.
Nationally, the study said job growth at U.S. subsidiaries of foreign-based companies has grown 146 percent since 1980 - or five times greater than the 31 percent increase in the same time for all U.S. companies.
