Canada's first female prime minister is the keynote speaker and two female legislators will get awards at the annual Susa Young Gates Award lunch, to be held Friday at the Marriott Hotel in Salt Lake City.

The former prime minister, The Right Honourable Kim Campbell, is currently Consul General for Canada. She'll speak on international affairs.Utah's lone female state senator, Millie Peterson, R-West Valley, and Rep. Sheryl Allen, R-Bountiful, will get the Susa Young Gates awards, given annually by the Utah Women's Political Caucus to honor outstanding service to the women of Utah.

In announcing the awards, Ann Floor said Peterson has successfully sponsored 12 pieces of legislation and currently serves on 13 legislative committees or task forces.

Reservations for the lunch should be made two days in advance, by calling Floor at 355-4441. Cost is $40 for nonmembers; $35 for members of the Utah Women's Political Caucus.
