Vivian Parker Green passed away at a local hospital on April 20, 1998, following a five week bout with ovarian cancer.
She was born in Blenheim, South Carolina on April 2, 1916 to John David and Ruth Cleveland Hudson Parker. Her family, consisting of her parents and their five children, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in November of 1924. Four other children were born in Salt Lake City. After the death of their mother at the early age of 39, Vivian was helpful in the upbringing of her younger siblings.Vivian was an active member of the L.D.S. Church all of her life and was endowed in the Salt Lake Temple in October, 1937.
She married Leon K. Green in Salt Lake City on June 7, 1947. He died on June 24, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, "Pat" W. Parker; a brother-in-law, Albert H. Ellett; and three siblings who died in infancy, John D., Julia, and Benjamin Parker.
Vivian is survived by the following, sisters, Mary Alice (Robert) Smith, of Reno, Nevada; Miriam P. Ellett, of Salt Lake City; brothers, David (Eileen), of Cincinnati, Ohio; George (RaNee) Parker, of Logan, Utah; Moroni (Joan) and William (Elaine), of Salt Lake City; and Curtis A. Parker, of New York City; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Bolinder and Daisy Renzo, of Salt Lake City; and Julia Parker, of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
Thanks are extended by the family to all of the medical staff at the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center for the kind and efficient care given to Vivian during her stay there.
At Vivian's request, no funeral service will be held. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Deseret Memorial Mortuary at 36 East 700 South in Salt Lake City on April 23, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. Vivian will be laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and N Street, on April 24th at 11 a.m.
