A 17-year-old Orem girl has rejected plea bargain offers from prosecutors in connection with the death of a Provo man.
Attorneys for Lipina Lolohea asked 4th District Judge Lynn W. Davis Monday for a preliminary hearing date. The hearing was set for May 5.Lolohea is charged as an adult with murder, a first-degree felony, in the February death of Samuela P. Loseli.
Several previous court hearings had been postponed while prosecutors and defense attorneys attempted to negotiate an agree-ment. Such negotiations apparently failed, which prompted the judge to set the date for a preliminary hearing. During that hearing, Davis will determine whether there is enough evidence to order a murder trial.
Lolohea remains in the Utah County Jail on $100,000 bail. Her 15-year-old brother also faces a murder charge in juvenile court.
