A rollover involving a semitrailer truck closed I-80 westbound and one of the eastbound lanes for most of the day Monday.

About 8:30 a.m. a flatbed semi truck was heading west on I-80 near the I-215 interchange in Parleys Canyon when a deer ran onto the roadway, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Verdi White II.The accident scattered the truck's load of vinyl fencing material all over the highway. Troopers and Department of Transportation workers closed the freeway, except for one lane of eastbound I-80, until about 3 p.m. in order to clean up the debris, White said.

The truck's driver, Morris Eugene Rimes, 45, was flown to LDS Hospital by helicopter in serious condition. Rimes is from Fort Worth, Texas, and was driving a truck for Adams and Son Trucking, which operates out of Sydney, Neb.
