John Harvey McKean, 88, passed away in his home on April 16, 1998.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Wildavine Davidson McKean; second wife, Margaret Blain McKean and son, John Jerrold McKean.
Survived by his daughter, Shirley Nengas; stepson Shirl Blain; stepdaughter, Barbara Richards; brother, Walter McKean; sisters, Helen McNair and Dodie Hamson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
John loved fishing, coin collecting and his favorite sport was billiards. He became an iron worker in 1927. Served as business representative of the Iron Workers Local Union 27. Served as president of the Salt Lake Building and Construction Trades Council. Served as vice president of the Utah State Federation of Labor AFLCIO. Was appointed president of the Iron Workers District Council of the Rocky Mountain area. Was appointed general organizer of the Iron Workers International Union. Became general treasurer of the International Iron Workers until he retired in 1978.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 22, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior the day of the services. Interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
