A boy badly burned in Herriman Friday remained in critical but stable condition at University Hospital Saturday night.

Alex Jensen, 8, received burns on more than 80 percent of his body Friday afternoon after a fire went out of control. He and two friends were playing with matches inside a fort they built out of cinder blocks behind Jensen's home, 13727 S. Rocky Point Drive (5405 West). The boy's friends were injured, but not seriously.

A quart jar full of gasoline apparently spilled near the fire and caused an explosion, investigators believe. Jensen's clothes caught on fire.
