Renaissance Golf Products Inc., a licensee of Italy's FILA Sport, cut the ribbon Friday on its new U.S. headquarters in Draper.

The new 38,000 square-foot facility at 12187 South Business Park Drive, includes a distribution center, warehouse, business offices and a FILA Golf Outlet Store.Renaissance moved its operations to Utah from Huntington Beach, Calif. It has 30 employees.

"We're very excited to expand operations here in Utah," said John B. Hewlett, chairman and CEO.

"I have great confidence in our team and have high expectations for the years to come."

Hewlett also announced that his company will sponsor the World Golf Tour, a new amateur/professional competition in which golfers with up to a 36 handicap may participate.

The WGT conducts some 500 annual tournaments nationwide with an estimated 25,000 participants.

"In the next few years, we anticipate that more than 100,000 golfers will participate in the World Golf Tour," said Hewlett.

The WGT is similar to the PGA Tour in that participants have a card and play for money, said Clark Hill. Hill is a West Valley City resident who was one of the WGT members scheduled to play Saturday in a WGT tournament at Riverbend Golf Course in Riverton. Top prize, $1,000.
