Stretching the dollar Hollywood-style may be a new avocation for two first-time filmmakers. Sam Sokolow and Rob Lobl used every contact they could muster to cast Teri Garr, Al Frank-en, Bob Balaban, Roy Scheid-er, Ally Sheedy, Eric Stoltz, ESPN's Chris Patrick and former basketball star Alex English in "The Definite Maybe."

Though it sounds like a pricey, star-driven cast, Sokolow and Lodl managed to get stars and crew to work for free or take deferments. Final budget: $80,000. Sokolow, 28, and Lodl, 27 - former college roommates at Boston University - wrote, produced and directed the piece together. A satire about two 25-year-olds in New York's tony Hamptons, the picture shot in 43 locations all over Manhattan, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Long Island.
