Wait a minute. Did I really read that? Your article of April 7 describing how motorists were allowed to drive onto a closed freeway, becoming trapped for an hour or more, because the contractor didn't bother to post warning signs at the entrance would have been appalling enough without Wasatch Constructors' excuse for the fiasco.

The remarks you reported their spokesman as offering, such as, "Motorists are just going to have to pay attention to published schedules and not enter at the wrong time," and claiming that "putting up signs or not putting up signs becomes a more arbitrary decision, which is not good policy," rank in both stupidity and arrogance with the all time worst: "Let them eat cake."Wasatch Constructors receives its income from our taxes. It should show a little less contempt and a lot more concern toward the hands that feed it.
