Gertrude Simmer Greenlee Snyder rejoined her Father in Heaven, Wednesday, April 15, 1998. She died peacefully at age 96 in Salt Lake City.
Born April 23, 1901 to Elizabeth and Michael Simmer in New Prague, Minnesota. Married Samuel Greenlee in 1928; widowed in 1960. Married Roland Snyder in 1963; widowed in 1984.A longtime resident of Los Angeles and Orlando, Florida, Gertrude was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Gertrude will be remembered for her kindness and optimism. She loved clowns, playing bridge, gardening, and especially people.
Preceded in death by daughter, Eileen "Betty" Lumpkin. Survived by sister, Genevieve Morehart, Los Angeles; daughter, Barbara Toomer, West Valley City; step-son, Stanley Snyder, Clearwater, Florida; step-daughter, Isabel Smith, Long Island, New York; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Juanita Kiplinger for her loving care, friendship and service to Gertrude in her final days.
Graveside service, Friday, April 17th, 1 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 So., West Valley City.
