Union Pacific Foundation, a charitable arm of Union Pacific Railroad, is distributing $403,500 to 51 nonprofit organizations in Utah, according to Jerry Davis, president and chief operating officer.
This year, the foundation will distribute $7 million to 850 organizations in the states where the railroad operates.Receiving grants were the Shakespearean Festival, Cedar City; Laubach Literacy International, Coalville; United Way of Cache Valley, Logan; Families Worldwide, The Cottage Program, Midvale; United Way of the Milford Area, Milford.
Also, Eccles Community Art Center, McKay Dee Foundation, Ogden Nature Center, Union Station Foundation and United Way of Northern Utah, all of Ogden; U.S. Ski Educational Foundation, Park City; Brigham Young University, Central Utah Health Care Foundation and United Way of Utah County, all of Provo.
The organizations in Salt Lake City receiving money are Ballet West, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake, Children's Center, Children's Museum of Utah, Children's Service Society of Utah, Coalition for Utah's Future/
Project 2000, Utah Council of Girls Scouts, Guadalupe Schools, Junior Achievement of Utah Inc., LDS Hospital-Deseret Foundation.
Other Salt Lake groups are Literacy Action Center, National Energy Foundation, Nature Conservancy of Utah, Pioneer Theatre Company/University of Utah, Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation, Repertory Dance Theatre, Ririe Woodbury Dance Company, Salt Lake Community College, Salt Lake Donated Dental Services.
Also, Salt Lake Opera Theatre, United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area, University of Utah, Utah AIDS Foundation, Utah Arts Festival, Utah Foundation, Utah Opera Company and Utah Youth Village.
