Has anyone ever been suspended by the NBA before with the qualification that the player's action was perceived as unintentional? I recall only situations where the action appeared flagrant and with malice. Would any player in the NBA go without being suspended if this "unintentional" throwing of elbows were to be applied uniformly? I feel that is doubtful. I fail to understand the real motivation behind the Malone suspension; it had to be something other than what the league has stated and aimed at something other than the play.
