The Provo River Water Users Association says a failure has been discovered on the bank of the downhill side of the Murdock Canal.

Saturated by recent rains, the failed section is between Pleasant Grove and Cedar Hills and is 100 feet wide by 150 feet long. There is currently no water in the canal.Water was scheduled to flow into the canal in a few days but will be delayed until repairs are complete. The waters users association and Bureau of Reclamation are currently evaluating the situation to determine exactly how repairs will be executed.

The canal carries water to Salt Lake County and north Utah County for culinary and irrigrigation purposes.
