A chunk of rain-soaked hillside gave way Sunday, sending tons of mud and boulders over the traffic lanes of U-31 five miles east of Fairview.

No one was injured, but Utah Department of Transportation spokeswoman Melanie Buck said the slide forced the closure of the road between Fairview and Huntington.Bad weather and the instability of the hillside forced UDOT crews to delay efforts to clear the road until Monday. Crews hope to have the road open Monday afternoon, Buck said.
