Two Provo men have been arrested in connection with robberies at two Orem businesses Thursday.
A laundromat manager was held up at gunpoint Thursday morning as he opened the business, and the manager of Anderson Lumber was approached Thursday evening as he closed, said Orem police spokesman Bob Conner. At the laundry business, 640 E. 1700 South, a man in his early 20s approached the manager with a large semi-automatic hand gun.
He took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot, Conner said.
At Anderson Lumber, 1640 N. State, the manager was locking the doors when someone walked up behind him and pointed a gun at him.
He told the manager to give him the money but threw down the bag given to him when he discovered it held only paperwork and receipts.
He ran away and got into a vehicle parked on a side street near the business. The manager called in the vehicle description, and Sgt. Bill Young apprehended a suspect and the driver of the car at the mouth of Provo Canyon.
Two Provo men, both 20, were booked into jail for investigation of armed robbery.
