Despite the fun, authorities in the area were dealing with accidents and other problems Friday. A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was ejected from a Jeep after it rolled about 3 p.m., said Grand County Sheriff James Nyland. Deputies are anticipating more problems.
"We have so many young people and four-wheel-drive trucks down here, I would be surprised if we didn't have anything more happen," Nyland said "Easter week and weekend are like this. We have so many people here."Paramedics transported the boy to Allen Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Nyland said. The boy fell from a 30-foot cliff after he was ejected and suffered a fractured jaw and pelvis. Deputies also found a cross-country skier who had been missing for about 24 hours Friday.
The 22-year-old man was found on the top of Geiser Pass where he had gotten lost Thursday. He was found in good condition. Park rangers also found a 19-year-old woman Friday night just south of Moab. She was reported missing Thursday.
