The threat of bad weather has prompted Wasatch Constructors to cancel two I-15 closures planned for Easter weekend.

The I-15 reconstruction contractor will not close portions of northbound and southbound I-15 in Salt Lake County this weekend as previously announced. The repaving projects have been rescheduled for the weekend of April 18-19.Wasatch spokesman Brian Mauldwin said construction crews weren't anxious to go through what they experienced last weekend when they performed similar work through rain showers.

The planned closure of I-80 remains on schedule. The eastbound side of the freeway will be closed at the I-215 junction near Salt Lake International Airport at about 9 p.m. Friday for the next 15 to 18 months. Traffic entering downtown Salt Lake City will be detoured onto North Temple.

The postponed I-15 closures will take place next weekend at the original times and locations: Northbound I-15 will be closed, between 4500 South and 2100 South, from 10 p.m. April 18 to 4 p.m. April 19. Southbound I-15 will be closed, between the I-80 East ramp and 3300 South, from 10 p.m. April 18 to 8 a.m. April 19.
