Regarding your March 16 front-page article concerning child car safety, some vehicles have an adjustment for front-seat, upper-shoulder harness anchor but not for rear seats. Seat-belt extenders are available at the dealer. These extenders are helpful for short adults. We have obtained them at no cost for cars as old as 1984 and as new as 1992.

This is a well-kept "secret" of the automotive industry. Dealers are required by the Product Safety Commission to provide them at no cost. Contact the parts department manager at your local car dealer.Lynn Weeks
