Wasatch Energy Systems, operator of the Davis and Morgan County burn plant and landfill, will hold its annual Earth Day Celebration April 20-25 at the Layton Hills Mall.

The displays of environmental projects by area school students will be open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Public tours of the burn plant, 650 E. Highway 193, will also be given from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

"Each year, it gets a little bigger, a little better," district director LeGrand W. Bitter said of the Earth Day event.

Besides the student exhibits, other events include a speech contest, science fair judging, skit presentations, poster, essay and class project competitions, as well as an awards ceremony.

Competition is at three levels: high school, junior high and elementary school. First prizes includes cash scholarships or savings bonds, ranging from $100 to $500.
