Slobodan "Steve" Tadic used to sing to his fares as he drove them to their destinations, a touch that made him one of the city's most requested cabbies.

Tadic, who had worked for Alaska Cab for about five years, was found shot to death in his cab in a shopping center parking lot Tuesday, the victim of a robbery.Co-workers said he was a favorite among the company's drivers. "He'd kind of go the extra mile," company executive Guy Hibbert said.

Although it was the second fatal shooting of a cab driver in a week - and the third this year, police said Tuesday the killings do not appear to be related. There has been only one other homicide this year in the city of 255,000.

Tadic's death came one week after Alaska Cab driver Dean Marsh was shot to death. And Randy Stewart, a driver for Anchorage Taxicab, was shot in the head Feb. 7 during an apparent robbery.
