The Internal Revenue Service has extended its hours of operation during the final days of the 1998 tax filing season.
IRS offices at 50 S. 200 East will be open Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., during which time agency representatives will be available to offer limited tax preparation to low-income, elderly and handicapped taxpayers.Numerous forms, publications and answers to tax questions will be available.
Hours have been extended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 13, and Tuesday, April 14, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. On April 15, limited tax preparation will be available to low-income, elderly and handicapped taxpayers.
IRS representatives will provide forms and publications and answer tax questions.
In addition, the IRS has extended its regular Monday and Tuesday service through April 15 at the Utah State Tax Commission, 210 N. 1950 West. IRS employees will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. IRS forms and publications are also available at the state office.
Curbside service is available until 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the IRS Building for those dropping off completed tax returns and Form 4868, Extension of Time to File.
The IRS has the most common prior year tax forms on CD-Rom. The information, which dates back to 1991, is available at the IRS walk-in office.
