Dave M. Hellewell, age 100, died Thursday, April 2, 1998 in Payson, Utah at the home of a granddaughter.
He was born June 14, 1897 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Joseph Henry and Martha Jane Horspool Hellewell. He married Alice Etta Daniels January 22, 1920 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died September 13, 1965. He married Nellie Frances Fowler Daniels on March 12, 1966 in the Oakland LDS Temple. He spent much of his youth in the Paul, Idaho area and later returned to Ogden where he resided until retirement when he moved to St. George.Dave had been a farmer, and always enjoyed gardening. He was a letter carrier for the Post Office in Ogden. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in World War I. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and had enjoyed service in many varied capacities. He especially enjoyed serving in the Temple. He served three missions and left a great legacy of devoted service to the Church.
He is survived by his wife, 19 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, and 25 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two children: Dave M. Hellewell, Jr. and Elizabeth H. Smith; five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at the Myers Mortuary, 845 South Washington Boulevard, Ogden, on Tuesday, April 7, 1998 at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the mortuary at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
