Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, David Daniel Flegal, age 89, passed away peacefully April 1, 1998, in Salt Lake City, at his home surrounded by his family.
David was born January 27, 1909, in Bosworth Missouri, the son of Forrest Grove Flegal and Lillie Elvira Anderson. He married Lois Charlotte Ottley on August 3, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. He had a tremendous impact upon the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of the LDS Church, faithfully fulfilling all his callings. He worked for many years as a machinist at Utah Power and Light. His wisdom was not noted in formal degrees but in practical applications. Taking advantage of teaching moments, he shared his wealth of experience with all. He could build or fix anything and if you knew him he undoubtedly repaired something of yours. No one was safe from his practical jokes. Little wonder he passed away on April Fool's Day. You'll be greatly missed, last tag Grandpa!Survivors include his wife, Lois Charlotte Ottley, of Salt Lake City; two sons and two daughters, Jean (Wayne) Brimley, Edward (Heidi) Flegal, Douglas (Teresa) Flegal, all of Salt Lake City; Becky (Roark) Stratton, Lincoln, Nebraska; Linda Flegal (Richard) Prince, LaVerkin, Utah; 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Madelyn) Wafer; and a sister-in-law, Helen Flegal. Preceded in death by two brothers; a son, Stephen; and a grandson, David.
