Mark Fuhrman will not be prosecuted for the beatings and abuses he boasted of in a series of tape-recorded interviews with a screenwriter, a Justice Department spokes-man said Friday.
Myron Marlin said the five-year statute of limitations for prosecuting the retired Los Angeles detective has run out. The alleged acts all took place before 1988, he said. Marlin had no further comment.Fuhrman's 14 taped interviews with screenwriter Laura Hart McKinney came to light in 1995 during the O.J. Simpson murder trial.
