Attempts to broaden the appeal of Davis County's financial report have reaped a financial reporting award.
The award was presented to Steve Rawlings, the county's financial director, by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The county is one of only three counties in Utah to receive the award. The award is given to those agencies that make their yearly financial reports more than just numbers, Rawlings said. Instead, the reports need to be attractive enough to solicit interest from those who normally have minimal interest in the report.
Davis County's report included an appealing cover, 10-year history and a comprehensive overview of the report, Rawlings said.
"We hoped that even those without any accounting background could read this report and understand it," Rawlings said.
