Salt Lake-based Legacy Communications Inc. has arranged with US WEST to provide digital technology for Internet users, the 3-year-old company announced Thursday.

Dave Thayne, Legacy general manager, said the new service will be tested and made available to new and existing customers on Tuesday, April 7.Legacy subscribers in Davis County, Holladay, Kearns, Murray, Orem, Provo and Salt Lake are among those who will benefit from the new network of digital phone lines recently installed by US WEST, according to a press release. The lines will allow Internet connections at speeds up to 256 kbps for home users, compared to former modem speeds of 28.8, 33.6 or 56 kbps.
