O.C. Tanner has been named the national Welfare-to-Work Business of the Week.

More than 3,000 businesses nationally were eligible for the award by the Welfare to Work Partnership.With 1,900 employees, O.C. Tanner began hiring former welfare recipients in 1996. Denise Page, human resources manager, said the first four employees were so successful the company plans to hire more people this year.

The Welfare-to-Work Partnership aims to help American businesses move people from public assistance to employment.
