The Marriage Resource Center at Brigham Young University will sponsor a workshop titled "Helping Friends Avoid Divorce" Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium.
The workshop is free and the public is welcome. Please call 378-2013 to reserve a seat."After hearing President Gordon B. Hinckley speak on marriages breaking up and how we need to `reach out with a helping hand to those whose marriages have become troubled' during his devotional speech at BYU, we created the Marriage Resource Center to provide marriage material and resources," said Brent Barlow, director of the Marriage Resource Center.
Barlow will give the opening remarks at the workshop. He will introduce the theme and also give a few insights into avoiding divorce.
The group will then be split into eight workshops. Students from the Community Education 403 class will present information found in two books, "The Case Against Divorce" by Diane Medved and "Divorce Busting" by Michele Weiner-Davis, both available at the BYU Bookstore.
After the workshops, the groups will meet again in the JSB Auditorium to watch "Children and Divorce," a PBS broadcast.
