Our beloved Hester Mabel Warner Devenport, 92, left this life on April 1, 1998, to be with her husband, Karl, and a multitude of family and friends.

She was born July 5, 1905, in Provo, Utah, to Holstein Monroe and Hester Mabel Pratt Warner, the fifth of six brothers and sisters, all deceased. She married Karl William Devenport on May 26, 1930 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1982.Most of her earlier years were in Rexburg, Idaho, where she was active in music and theatrical productions. Ucon became her home in 1945, where she and Karl were employed by the Ucon and later the East Bonneville School Districts. During this time she directed many school plays and directed and acted in stake musicals.

Among her many activities later in life, Hester and Karl served a mission together in the French speaking Quebec, Canada Mission. They also served many years in the Idaho Falls Temple. Following Karl's death, Hester went back to school, studying drama and vocal music at BYU. Her graduate project was writing, producing, and acting in "Rachel: A One Woman Show"; following which she received her Master's degree in 1989 at age 84. She also had a major acting part in "The Enoch Train: Gathering to Zion", at the LDS Church's Museum of Church History and Art in 1994 at age 89.

Karl and Hester have two sons, Dr. Karl Devenport (Sharon), Salt Lake City; Eugene Devenport (Vivi-Ann), Murray, UT; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sat., April 4, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Ucon, Idaho 2nd Ward Chapel with burial in the Ucon Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral directors, Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, ID.
