Those who give live rabbits and other helpless animals as Easter gifts, particularly to children, should give thought to the fact that they are often condemning these helpless beings to neglect, torture and death.

It is unfair to expect children to assume the care of these animals, and it is important to remember that an animal is not a seasonal toy, but a year-round responsibility and lifetime commitment.Easter marks a beautiful season. It should also stand for compassion.
