Elizabeth Marie Van Horbeck Hemphill, 90 passed away March 26, 1998 in Salt Lake, Utah.

Born April 9, 1907 to William C. and Ada Parr Van Horbek. Married Grady Hemphill in the early 1940's. He passed away in 1976. While they were married they lived in Redwood City, California. Marie lived a very interesting life.In her early years she was known for her remarkable piano playing. She tought piano and played the organ for a local movie theatre for silent films in the 20's. She was a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone at the Hyland Exchange. She loved to travel the states with her husband.

Survived by brother, John, Pacifica, CA; six loving nieces and nephews who knew her as "Auntie M;" many grand nieces and nephews and step-children in Houston, Texas. Preceded in death by husband, two brothers and three sisters.

Aspecial thanks to her friend, Wayne Roberts. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Fairlawn Section). Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 5-7 Highland Drive and on Monday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to services.
