Our beloved Mom and Granny passed away peacefully at her home on March 29, 1998.
Born May 28, 1922 in Powell, Nebraska to Glenn Dorr and Elva Ross Stanard. She moved to California to work in a aircraft plant during World War II where she met Robert O. Madsen her sailor sweetheart. They were married July 1944 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, They moved to South Jordan and built a home together where they raised three children. After retiring they enjoyed traveling, and spent nine winters in Arizona. After Bob passed away in Nov. 1992, Viola spent much of her time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and loved her children and grandchildren to be near.Survived by three children, Gwen (Bill) Robbins, Wendell-Doc (Carol) Madsen all of South Jordan; and Margo (Ray) Nesslage of Layton; nine Grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 12 Noon at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 West, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment, South Jordan Cemetery.
