JoAnna Pike Baker, 64, passed away at her home March 29, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. She has "gone the distance" and is together with Dad again. He passed away February 6, 1996.
Born May 5, 1933, in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of James Howard and Martha Helen McKnight Pike. Married Glen Robert Baker May 27, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served in many church positions from Primary chorister to Stake and Ward camp director. Served in many stake and ward young women and Relief Society presidencies, serving seven years as Ward Young Women President and seven years as Ward Relief Society President. She served a two year LDS welfare mission with her husband.She was known as a special friend to fellow workers, adoptive parents, neighbors, and everyone she met. She was always of service to others.
Survived by her children, Blair and Connie Baker, Pleasant Grove; Kent and Lola Baker, Riverside, UT; Clark and Sharon Mills, Cleveland, UT; 12 grandchildren; four sisters and a brother, Louraine Gates, Spanway WA; James Pike, Tacoma, WA; Linda Brumbelow, Pharr, TX; Lorna Marvin, Weiser, ID; and Jilleen Homer, Federal Way, WA.
Preceded in death by her husband, Glen Robert Baker; parents, Howard and Helen Pike; a niece, Julie Hyme; and a special friend, Katie Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 1, 1998, at 2 p.m. in the American Fork 3rd Ward, 700 North 350 West. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial in the American Fork City Cemetery.
