A suspect in what may have been a drug-related killing in Ogden, Utah, was arrested here and was being questioned by Utah detectives, a Gallatin County undersheriff said.

Alfredo Arias Gomez, 22, was arrested Tuesday night by Bozeman police and Gallatin County deputies, Undersheriff Errol Wilson said.Gomez appeared in District Court Wednesday where Judge Mike Salvagni ordered him held without bond on a fugitive warrant from Utah. Another hearing was held Thursday morning.

Gomez is wanted in the murder of 19-year-old Wayne Hillaker, who was shot in the head Monday night in Ogden in what police initially described as a confrontation between two motorists.

"It looked like the victim was getting out of his car when the shooting occurred," Ogden police Lt. Dan Greenhalgh said.

A witness gave police a description and license number of a late 1970s maroon Buick with Montana plates the shooter was driving.

Police spotted the vehicle Tuesday night in Bozeman, but neither of its two occupants was the suspect, Wilson said. However, they provided information that led police to a house outside Bozeman.

As officers arrived, the suspect left in another vehicle with a woman and an infant. Police followed, pulled the car over in Bozeman and arrested Gomez without incident, the undersheriff said.

No weapon was recovered.

Ogden police said the victim and the suspect had been in an altercation earlier Monday evening over a television set.

Wilson, however, said information received by Gallatin County authorities indicates the shooting "was a hit, probably drug-related."

Gomez is from California, according to Wilson.
