At least three gunmen dressed as security guards hijacked an armored truck Friday in a Los Angeles suburb, stealing nearly $3 million and wounding the guard, police said.

Sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Jablonsky said the robbery took place in the Los Angeles suburb of Commerce and that the injured guard was in fair condition at a local hospital. He was wounded in the arms and leg, but his bulletproof vest reportedly saved his life by absorbing shots to the chest.Jablonsky said the bandits took over the Dunbar armored truck while one of the two armed guards was in a Wells Fargo bank.
