Putting years of struggle behind them, three mayors and an electric company chairman have signed an out-of-court settlement on providing power to property annexed by a city.

The agreement by Payson, Spanish Fork, Salem and the Strawberry Electric Service District was signed Wednesday. The service district provides electricity to customers who live outside the city limits of the three towns.

Over the next 10 years, Payson will pay the district $90,502 in compensation for transferred customers. Spanish Fork will pay $286,620 and Salem will pay $52,000.

The district will retain its customers within the cities' limits for the next decade, then turn them over to the cities.
