Two freight trains collided early Wednesday at a railroad intersection, killing one man and injuring two others.

The collision involving Norfolk Southern and Conrail trains occurred about 4:35 a.m. where north-south and east-west trains cross on Butler's east side, police chief Steve Mosser said.Several cars derailed. Emergency workers contained a diesel fuel leak, and officials of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management were sent to see if the spill threatened water supplies, spokesman Jo Lynn Ewing said.
