Gerald Chatelain, 68, died March 23 1998 in Murray, Utah.
Born November 23, 1929 in Murray, Utah, to Darrel W. Chatelain and Johanna Schieving. Married Marilyn E. Miller, July 27, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple.Active member of the LDS Church serving in various church positions - MIA, Sunday School, home teacher and stake missionary. Retired from AT&T, 38 years; U.S. Naval Reserves 36 years; Evans & Sutherland, 10 years, Salt Lake City Police and Salt Lake County Sheriff Reserves. Champion handball and racquetball player. Loved camping, fishing and traveling.
"Just Jerry" never met a stranger, only a friend he had not met. Greeted everyone with a smile and a healthy handshake. He loved his family and was a full time grandfather. "Papa" after his retirement.
Survived by wife, Marilyn; children, Phil
(Penny), Lil' Jerry (Melanie), Johanna (Dennis) Newmeyer; brothers, Jim and Ron; 23 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents and son, Gregory.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Olympus Section). Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
