R. Dean Pedersen, Sr., 82, died March 23, 1998, at his home in South Jordan, Utah.
Born September 1, 1915, in Salt Lake City, to Hans H. and Jennie A. Pedersen. Married Josephine Barnes, later divorced. Married Catherine Rigby Hatch.He was an Eagle Scout. Graduated from West High School and Henegar Business College. He served as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in Zions National Park. During World War II, he served in the pacific war zone as a member of the Merchant Marines. He worked for the Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper for over 45 years, at the time of his retirement he was a plant personnel supervisor. He was a life long member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, BPOE, and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Salt Lake Lodge #85, (l965).
He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing pool, dancing, gardening, and loved animals, especially his little dog, Buffy.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Kay) Pedersen; daughters, Sally Annette Pedersen Clair (Bill), and Sydney Hatch Allred (Gary); son, Ralph Dean Pedersen, Jr. (Monique); eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Thursday, March 26th, 2 p.m., at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the services. Entombment Larkin Sunset Lawn.
In lieu of floral offerings the family would like donations to be made to the Humane Society of Utah.
