Joel Thomas Hill, age 24, returned home to his Heavenly Father early Sunday morning, March 22, 1998, due to diabetes and complications from a needless auto accident that rendered him paraplegic the last year of his life.

Born December 7, 1973, in Salt Lake City, Joel attended West Jordan High School. He was a special young man who accepted the challenges that life dealt him without complaint. One of his many talents was the ability to amuse and mystify friends and family with his card and magic tricks.Joel is survived by his father and mother, Tom and Nancy Hill, and brother Brett Smith; mother and stepfather, Eve and Barry Lum, Hawaii; brothers, Ryan (Kalina) Hill, Ketchikan, Alaska; Vince (Kristina) Johnson; sister, Wendy Ishida; grandmother, Mary Havens, Boise ID; aunt and uncles, Carolee (Mike) Anderson, Richard Hill, Gary (Debbie) Hill; many cousins and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his friends and coworkers at the City of West Jordan for their love and cooperation given to Joel this past year.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 26, 11 a.m., at West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 South 1300 West. Friends may call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
