Network software firm Novell Inc. said Tuesday that Ian R. Wilson, 68, managing partner of Dartford Partnership, has resigned from the company's board of directors.

Wilson was first elected to the Novell board of directors in February 1989.With the departure of Wilson, the company has six directors, including chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt; vice chairman John A. Young, retired CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co.; Elaine R. Bond, retired Chase Fellow, Chase Manhattan Bank; Hans-Werner Hector, co-founder of SAP AG; Jack L. Messman, chairman and CEO of Union Pacific Resources Group; and Larry W. Sonsini, member of the law firm Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati.
