Weight Management programs for youth and adults are being offered by two of Intermountain Health Care's hospitals in Utah County.
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and American Fork Hospital are offering a variety of behavior modification classes.An eight-week course at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center is offered to adults and youth as a long-term solution to weight loss. The class meets once a week and the cost is $75.
The class includes body fat percentage testing at the beginning and end of the program. Participants can earn $24 of their tuition back through exercise, keeping food intake records and class attendance.
Adult classes begin Tuesday, March 31, and Thursday, April 2, and will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Northwest Plaza, 1134 N. 500 West, in classroom 2.
American Fork Hospital is offering an eight-week weight management course beginning Tuesday, March 24, and will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. weekly in the hospital's library. The cost is $65 with a possible $24 refund through exercise, keeping food intake records and class attendance.
For previous graduates, a follow-up course is also being offered immediately following the regular class from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. The cost is $48 with a possible $24 refund.
Both classes emphasize long-term health and lifestyle changes rather than dieting, and concentrates on exercise and behavior modification. For more information on the American Fork classes call Adele at 756-7578.
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center is also offering a nine-week program for children and teens called Nutrition and Exercise With Success. The program helps youth focus on establishing sound nutritional eating habits, exercise and positive family interaction.
The cost of the classes is $60. The fee covers the expenses of materials and also class fees for both parents and their child. Classes for teens begin Tuesday, March 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in dining rooms 3 and 4 at the hospital, while kids classes being Thursday, April 2,from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in classroom 2 of the Northwest Plaza.
