A Roy man was not injured when his single-engine plane slammed to the ground just after it took off Saturday.
The pilot, Tommy Zito, 71, was attempting to gain altitude when he lost control of the plane while still over the runway at Ogden-Hinckley Municipal Airport about 7:30 a.m. The front end crashed into the concrete after spending a few seconds in the air, said Ogden Police Lt. Dan Greenhalgh."It got a few feet off the ground then crashed," he said. "(Zito) wasn't injured and there was nobody else in the plane."
The plane was destroyed in the crash, investigators said.
