Several state and federal agencies are joining egg producers in a partnership designed to safeguard Utah egg and poultry products.

The partnership agreement should enhance food safety and consumer protection through education and the sharing of information among government and industry, according to a Utah Department of Agriculture and Food press release.Participants in the effort include UDAF, the Utah Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Denver district of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and industry members of the Utah Egg Quality Assurance Plan.

Only two other states, California and South Carolina, have similar agreements in place.
