Rodger A. Martin, age 79, passed away Monday, March 16, 1998.
He was born November 18, 1918 in Salina, Utah, to Arthur Martin and Millie Brienholt Martin. He married Norma Jane Robins, October 2, 1939 in Richfield. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Rodger is survived by his wife, Norma; three sons, Rodger L. Martin and his companion, Jane Lee Tufts, Seattle, Washington; Jerold B. Martin and wife, Kathy, Midvale; and Bruce E. Martin and wife, Koelle, Sandy; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Bennett A. Martin. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Dean Martin; and grandson, Lane.
Rodger grew up in Salina, Utah. He graduated from North Sevier High School. Attended Southern Utah College. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific and Asian theaters. He retired from the United States Post Office after over thirty years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his son's buisness, Pard's Welding, and also rebuilt small gas engines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and traveling. He and his wife, Norma, spent the winters at their retirement home in Yuma, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 1998, at 12 noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, 6-8 p.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Salina Stake Center. Interment, Salina Pioneer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Utah Cancer Society.
