Another acre of agricultural land is about to disappear from the center of the city.

The City Council has approved the rezoning of one acre at 331 E. Gordon (1000 North) from agricultural to a professional business designation. The land is along busy four-lane Gordon Avenue, and other areas nearby, also fronting the street, are already zoned for professional business use.

The Planning Commission would prefer that housing for the elderly end up being located on the land, but it's more likely another professional office will go there.

Any new construction on the land would be subject to a future site plan review.
