George Edward Leary, Sr., age 76, died March 12, 1998 at his home in Bountiful, Utah.

Born July 4, 1921, in Salt Lake City to William Leary, Jr. and Clara Augusta Martha Naschcke. He married Effie Louise Billings February 14, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.George is survived by his wife, Louise; four sons and two daughters, Edrice Christensen (Allen), G. Edward Leary (Betty), Kent Leary (Vicki), Dean Leary, Glen Leary (Val), Glorie Ray (Chet); 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Melvin Leary, William Leary, Clara Harrison, and Marlene Doxey (Tim).

George grew up in the Poplar Grove area of Salt Lake City. He graduated from South High. Attended the University of Utah. He served in the Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was active in the LDS church serving in many callings. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after almost forty years. In retirement he worked in the Salt Lake and Bountiful LDS Temples. He enjoyed traveling, taking care of his cars and bread making, which he shared with many.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at 12 noon in the Bountiful 24th Ward Chapel, 720 East 550 North, Bountiful. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary ,295 North Main, Bountiful, Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at the church 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
