Three local theater groups have scheduled auditions this week:

- THE VILLAGE PLAYHOUSE THEATRE in Springville will hold tryouts for its production of the Broadway musical classic "The Wizard of Oz" on March 17 and 18.All roles are open and principal roles for the production, which runs July 2-Aug. 2, will be double cast. Auditions for children ages 12 and younger will be held March 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m at the theater, 254 S. Main. Auditions for all others will be held March 18 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Callback auditions will be March 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those wishing to try out should come prepared to sing 16 bars of a song from an upbeat Broadway musical and should bring a recent snap-shot.

Any children cast in the productions will be required to enroll in the theater's workshop, where basic acting skills will be taught. Tuition for the workshop is $50, with a $15 costume fee.

- THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE COMPANY is holding tryouts for its fourth annual productions of "One Acts" on March 21 and 24.

Actors of all abilities are encouraged to audition. "One Acts" is designed to give experienced actors the opportunity to take a chance and explore their skills, while giving less experienced actors the chance to develop their skills.

The March 21 auditions will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main, Park City. The March 24 auditions will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Arts Inc., 358 Rio Grande, Salt Lake City.

- THE OFF BROADWAY THEATER has scheduled auditions for its production of "Pop-Eyed the Sailor Guy" Saturday, March 21, at noon at the theater, 272 S. Main, Salt Lake City. The script is by Eric Jensen; David Hunsaker will direct.

There are parts for five men and two women ages 18 and up. Actors will read cold from the script.
